For the last twenty-something years I have been employed at Western University of Health Sciences as a Multimedia Specialist. Our department has evolved from providing basic audiovisual set-ups to the creation of full-fledged video and multimedia pieces. While at WesternU, I enrolled in certificate programs at both UC Irvine and Cal State Fullerton in Interactive Multimedia and Digital Animation respectively.
I am currently responsible for the creation of instructional, promotional and event-based videos. I am versed in a variety of multimedia and 3D animation software including Adobe and Autodesk products. Tools and techniques that come second-nature include: non-linear video editing, compositing, lighting, green screen, motion graphics, video production, and live webcasting.
My areas of interest are in augmented reality and gamification for higher education, specifically as it pertains to medical school. Last fall I produced a short documentary highlighting our gaming and 3D departments in fulfillment of GED 575 - Video Production. Although I have many years of knowing the "how" of production, I am gaining a better understanding and appreciation for the "why" of it thanks to the EMM program at Cal Poly. My goal is to continue working in an academic setting: collaborating with faculty, and leveraging multimedia to improve student outcome.
