I have in the past two months got some> good cooments from teachers in one S Korea other in Chile on the provision/ of special needs here

I don't know what the definition is in Korea but at my high school special needs would only include students with behavioral and emotional problems. The only provision I've seen was from the school counselor. She made a list of about 25 students whom teachers should not hit. I don't hit my students but some can be quite intimidated by foreign teachers. Just like many other forms of communication in schools with foreign teachers, I found out about the list by chance. I still don't know the students by sight, but as a result, I try to take a more gentle approach with all my students.

In Chile there is not an official policy teaching english to students with special needs.
In municipal schools teacher´s "sixth sense" helps them to finish the school year.
I teach elementary level and I have many special needs students ( behaviour, autism,
low IQ ,etc) but they all watch cartoons on TV. I prepare a good provision of worksheets
with tv characters and they are happy coloring,matching and cutting. I think craft, a
relaxing environment and a gentle teacher helps...for the moment.
