About Me: Hello, my name is Lauren Fowler and I am seeking certification for EC-6 in Texas. I have two dogs, Simon and Sadie, and they are yorkies. This means that they are super cute, but they bark all the time!

I just finished my undergrad, so I now have a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. I currently work at a car dealership as the payroll administrator and assistant office manager. I have been there for six and a half years, and I also work part-time at another car lot. These companies have treated me very well, despite the car dealership stigma, but it is time to move on.

I have always wanted to be a teacher, although I have taken a long time to fulfill that goal. I think that teaching is one of the noblest professions within today’s society. The future of our country rests in the minds of our children, and to be able to shape them promotes democracy and our cultural ideals.

In the fall, I hope to secure an elementary teaching position in another city. My boyfriend lives there, as well as some of my family, and it would be great to be closer to them. I would love for that to work out, but I am more than concerned about the budget cuts affecting the availability of teaching positions.

I haven’t had much time for hobbies lately, but I am trying to get back into exercising regularly and reading. I love children’s books, and I read them voraciously when I get the chance. I also spend a lot of time volunteering at my church, and have taught Sunday school since I was 13.
