About Me
Dr. Mah Boon Yih is a senior lecturer at Academy of Language Studies, Universiti Teknologi MARA (Penang). He holds three degrees: Ph.D. (E-learning), M.A. (Applied Linguistics), and B.A. Ed. (Hons) in ELS. He has completed his doctoral study in 2015 at Centre for Instructional Technology and Multimedia, Universiti Sains Malaysia after receiving a scholarship from Ministry of Education Malaysia in 2011. Besides lecturing, supervising, and conducting research, he is also an author, editor, reviewer, keynote speaker, trainer, consultant, as well as technical and scientific committee member. As he has earned numerous awards and medals since 2009, he is included in "Who's Who in Science and Engineering 2011-2012", “Who's Who in Asia 2012”, “2000 Outstanding Intellectuals of the 21st Century”, IBC's "Top 100 Educators - 2012", "Dictionary of International Biography - 36th-38th Editions", and "Who's Who in the World" 2013-2015.

Dr. Mah Boon Yih is the founder of Web-based Cognitive Writing Instruction or WeCWI (http://wecwi.blogspot.com), an award-winning hybrid e-framework for instructional design and language development. On 27 May 2014, WeCWI was officially launched in The Digital Education Show Asia 2014. It was copyrighted by MyIPO after being approved by RIBU, UiTM in early 2014. Later, WeCWI was published by WASET in the International Journal of Social, Education, Economics and Management Engineering after being delivered in two keynote addresses of ICELD 2014 and ICLLT 2015. Furthermore, WeCWI was presented in a workshop entitled “WeCWI Training Series: Instructional Design (macro)” at UiTM (Penang) and featured in #DoMoreLah4Malaysia campaign organised by MDeC in 2014. On 4 December 2014, WeCWI garnered the PIID 2014 silver medal as the recognition of an innovative idea in ICT. Later, WeCWI was awarded a silver medal in iidex2015 on 29 April 2015 as an innovative product in arts and applied arts category. At present, WeCWI is further employed in postgraduate studies and consultancy projects.
