About Me: I am the custodian and really in to recycling. One of our third grade teachers is also interested. she formed an environmental club and I kind of help with the details. She tries to come up with ideas for the kids and I take some of the kids on our weekly recycling collection tour of the school. We have recycling bins for paper and the kids love to jump in the bins to compact the paper. They are really interested in saving the planet. Its kind of fun to watch them becoming the "recycling police force" of the school.

recycling dilemma

I am trying to recycle paper, cardboard, plastic and aluminum. The major problem I am having is with recycling contractors. When the recycling market is down, They don't want our stuff. Like right now. So we are having to pay a fee to recycle. That's a bunch of hooey. I am ashamed to tell any of the teachers or students that we are having to pay to recycle because they would drop the program in a heartbeat. Anyone else going through the same situation?
