Hi Polly!
I have been reading the discussion "How are you using your classroom SMARTBoard?" and read that you teach Kindergarten. I teach Grade 3 in a school on Ontario, Canada. This week I'll be hosting about 15 teachers including several Kindergarten teachers. The topic is "Integrating The Use of a SMARTBoard in a Primary Class". I was wondering if you would be willing to share your website with me? Do you have any specific ideas that you would like to suggest besides using the SB for calendar time?
Thanks,
Marie

Hey Polly,

Our Brainyflix video contest just ended, and I wanted to thank you for helping us get the word out. We got 800 submissions from across the country!

That said, MIT was really happy with the results and will let us run another contest, so we're going for it! But this time, we're gonna have kids create Brainypics flashcards - which are images and sentences paired up with a one of our SAT/ACT words. The contest ends May 22nd, and there'll be iTunes and a cash prize like last time. To boot, we'll double the payout if the kids can hit a certain goal. More details at brainyflix.com/main/contest_rules.

Do you mind passing my message along to students and your HS colleagues again?

Thanks,
Jack

Hi Polly! I use my Tablet PC for all sorts of things. The top flips down and you can write on it with a stylus and it can be projected on my screen or dry erase board. I also use it for slideshow presentations, websites, and I have even scanned in worksheets so we can do it whole group.
I, too, was thinking about getting some ipods for my classroom. I am intrigued with the possibilities of the iTouch. There are education apps you can download on them, and I have this vision of them having to slide pictures from one and match them to rhying pictures on the other, or that sort of thing. I'll let you know if I figure it out! :-)

Hi Polly!

Hope you had a nice winter break. I was wondering if you have any high school contacts who would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. We'd really like to get students involved from Illinois!

You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!

Hi Polly,

Since you're getting into education tech take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's web based power point presentation platform. Both are web based and a free basic feature rich version. I'm not sure how useful the technology would be to kindergartners, but it could be very useful to you as an educator.
