I am Business Development Director for BASCOM, a developer of Internet security and instructional software solutions for K-12 learning environments. The explosion of Web 2.0 tools in schools has drawn attention to the functionality of our flagship product, Global Chalkboard, which (among other things) allows teachers to safely give their students access to Web content (i.e. a single YouTube video) that might otherwise be blocked by a filter. It represents a dramatically different approach to managing Internet access in a school: teacher-centric rather than IT-centric.
