I’m A Teacher, and I Want To Learn

Posted on April 12, 2007 at 10:31am 11 Comments

If someone has already started a conversation on a teacher group of collaborators similar to the following suggestion, I missed it, and I apologize for the repetition. I’d like to join your group if it exists. If such a group does not exist, here are some observations and an idea.

Strangely, I’ve had some familiar experiences here on Classroom 2.0 as a new online social network member. These online experiences are a lot like the experiences I’ve had while attending other large… Continue

After 35 years in the classroom

Posted on April 2, 2007 at 6:09pm 3 Comments

This is my 35th year of teaching social studied in York, Pennsylvania. The last fifteen years I've been teaching Advanced Placement U.S. history. I've seen educational reforms come and go, and none of them have changed much if anything in teaching and learning. It seems now that the reform will be from the bottom up. With the web 2.0 tools becoming available at an increasing rate, the way teachers teach and the way students learn are beginning to change for the first time in my career. Kids are… Continue

Hi Dave, I am a grad student at Eastern Connecticut State University working on my Master of Science in Educational Technology. For my masters thesis project I am required to collect questionnaires from teachers who use Web 2.0 tools in their classrooms. I was wondering if you would be so kind as to do one of my questionnaires (short, only 6 questions)? I would be happy to email it to you at your convenience. I thank you in advance for you time and assistance. :)

Hi Dave. I was wondering if you have students or educator friends who would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!

Hi Dave. I'm an adult educator in California. I came to your page and added you as a friend because I read your post abour Diigo and watched your screencast. I had never heard of Diigo before, and adult education teachers in CA will be really interested in it, I believe, so thanks!

Dave, I look forward to some great conversations. Btw, we are just starting AP in our school - English and Studio Art for next year. I'm excited about this as it will give some students more of a challenge and an opportunity to use their talents.

I just really caught that you are an AP US teacher. My AP US teachers are great with technology. I posted more on the AP US History project on my page and I confess, I haven't figured this network out completely yet so I'm not sure where I would be cross posting. Next year they might even be ready to research with kids in another school.

I think Ning's structure is such that you would probably create a new Ning group for sub-groups--but that's not optimal. I do like the idea of groups. I'll bring it up.
