Scroll right down and start another discussion with the heading "Looking for Italian teachers to connect with" or something like that. That might target the Italian teachers a little easier than a skype heading.
Have you seen this link on classroom2.0, it is for Italian teachers. There is also a foreign languages search tag if you scroll down the screen and look for the links on the right hand side. Also if you key in Italian teachers in the google classroom2.0 search and again in the search all ning networks, you may find that some already exist.
However, you can start your own ning, but you would need to establish some other contacts to work with you on the ning. Let me know how you go and if you need more help.

I see you are a friend of Anne's - she also teaches here at Hawkesdale P12 College and has been the impetus behind many of our teachers (and almost all of our students!) starting blogging. We have students from as young as 9 and 10 years old using blogs - in a safe 'edublogs' environment, where they are taught the rules about 'cyber safety' - not posting too many personal details and photos and being aware of the dangers of people who aren't who they say they are. However, we are beginning to take the view that children are at greater risk in their own backyards than on the internet. We have found that the benefits far outweigh any risks.

I am from Australia so I really know little about anyone else's educational systems but am slowly learning a bit about them from being a member here. We have a science teacher at our school who is starting to use technology and web2.0 quite a bit.
