I am Program Manager (aka DoS) at RMIT English Worldwide in Melbourne, Australia. While we offer a range of English Programs such as business English for professionals, study tours and Aviation English (language instruction and testing), we are, primarily, a direct entry institution preparing international students for further and higher education at RMIT University. Our courses, therefore, have an EAP focus even at lower levels where 'softer' academic skills are introduced. Our course materials (produced in-house) are currently under review and we are looking to introduce a greater ICT 'presence' primarily in a classroom context rather than a 'traditional' blended course.
As a language educator I am particularly interested in L2 writing and the impact of teacher corrective feedback (in its varied forms) on the writing, reviewing and editing process. I'm curious about the possibilities of using learning technologies to inform and/or facilitate the writing process.
I hold an honours degree in English and Sociology and a Diploma of Education, both from Monash University; a Post-Graduate Diploma of Acting from East 15 Drama School, Essex, UK (now part of Essex University); a Cambridge RSA CELTA from RMIT, and a Masters in Applied Linguistics from the University of Melbourne.
(By the way the Acting Diploma is really useful for teachers although that's not why I did it!!)
