About Me
I am an instructional technology specialist in Birdville ISD, northeast of Fort Worth, Texas. I primarily work with secondary teachers, although I train and support all of the district's campus webmasters, as well. I am currently leading a project to utilize Web 2.0 technologies in the district's classrooms, and I am amazed at the work that teachers, students, and administrators are doing in just a few months.

Survey (and Experiment)

Posted on January 17, 2008 at 8:20am 0 Comments

Trying to compare tools by way of a small survey--will Twitter knock off Ning?

What are the 3 best read/write web tools for elementary students?

More Input Requested--User Expectations?

Posted on September 12, 2007 at 8:20am 0 Comments

You all have really given me some great information in the past, so I'm going to the well yet again! Our district is faced with the urgent need to create a document defining our expectations for student and teacher use of the read/write web. If you have any suggestions or experiences to share, please do so here or on my other blog. Thank you, again!

Favorite Five?

If any of you have the time, I'd appreciate you visiting my blog and responding to my survey question about your favorite five Web 2.0 applications for teachers/students. Thanks, in advance!

Nominations Welcome!

Posted on June 6, 2007 at 1:31pm 4 Comments

I'm trying to compile a list of some outstanding teacher blogs and/or wikis. This will allow me to show teachers actual examples of the powerful effect these resources can have in elevating student writing, developing a sense of community, and fostering collaboration. If you have any to add to the list, please pass them along! Thanks in advance!

Hi Randy. I was wondering if any of your students would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. If not, perhaps you have some other educator contacts you could direct me to. You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!

Is Classroom 2.0 growing TOO big?

Seems to be less personal interaction--kind of like a big town vs. a small town.

So the Ning thing is really cool! I joined the Classroom 2.0 one the other day in our meeting and I've already joined up with a huge network of fourth grade teachers that are working on a colloborative writing blog for our classes. Have your heard anything about Moodle?
