Study Finds That Online Education Beats the Classroom

A recent 93-page report on online education, conducted by SRI International for the Department of Education, has a starchy academic title, but a most intriguing conclusion: “On average, students in online learning conditions performed better than those receiving face-to-face instruction.”

Successful 'Bear Exchange' using Web 2.0 technology

During October and November ACG School in Jakarta and our school, Cranbrook Junior School in Sydney exchanged soft toys. ACG sent us down an orangutan and we sent them a koala.

The exhilarated exhaustion

I teach at an environmental magnet elementary school in a small town in west central Minnesota. We are in a very rural area which I love but it would be great if my class of fourth graders could learn more about life in an urban area. Teaching teens is good stuff

As we enter Thanksgiving week it really is a time for me to recognize how much my students mean to me. I truly am a better human being because they are in my life.

They make me smile, laugh, hurt, angry, and tear up. They also make me proud, ashamed, hopeful and fearful.

And sometimes they do this back to back to back as if it's all happening in the same day.
