I'm Laurie Strain, a Library Science grad student beginning my third semester, like most of you.

I feel like I'm operating in slow motion after the summer boot camp semesters. I check daily to make sure I haven't missed a due date. I am looking forward to this class and the YA Lit class with Dr. Lesesne.

I live in Port Aransas, have two 13-year-old daughters, a husband and a zoo of animals.

I work two part-time jobs to pay for tuition and books.

I can't believe…

It all starts with you...

On any given day, educators experience the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. How an educator reacts and responds to these highs and

lows can often dictate the overall mood of the day. In my short 6 years

as an educator, I have learned several things as it pertains to

remaining positive, as well as keeping things in perspective when it

comes to my professional and personal life. Educators have an extremely

Changing the culture of professional development...

Most students from across the country have returned to schools refreshed, recharged, and rejuvenated to continue their journey through

the educational process. As students use their summer break to relax

and simply be kids, teachers and administrators utilize their time to

both improve and develop their skills as educators. The summer provides

an excellent opportunity for all educators to refine and enhance their

Making connections online happens fast. Classroom 2.0 and #edchat founder Tom Whitby will be Skyping in with the Web 2.0/PLN class in #vanmeter today. Shannon Miller, the classroom teacher, has invited my class to Skype in as well and let us in on several scheduled Skype sessions with other Web 2.0 icons later this month.

Mr. Whitby just happened to begin "following" me on Twitter… Continue

They unashamedly copy each other’s homework in the hallways. They will look teachers right in the eye and swear that every word of their perfect essay came straight from their own minds. Research leaves no doubt that plagiarism is rampant in our…

Who is Sheralyn?

Hi! My name is Sheralyn Woon and I'm from Singapore. I'm an Art teacher. Presently, I'm at HGSE doing my Ed.M in TIE. Outside of work, I love to sail, cook & travel. In my video below you will see one of my class activities; my students use recycled materials to construct a seaworthy raft that they use to race with others. Enjoy!

excuse us from taking risks and doing whatever it takes to meet the

needs of our students.

This school year several colleagues and I have chosen to
