My First Virtual Guest Speaker

I love the school days were you wake up super excited about the day ahead, today was most definately one of those days. Widgets are not always compatible with the departments online learning environment.

The ICT cluster

As I wind down through the last unit in each of the three senior subjects I teach, my students are trying to make sense of new concepts and half-heartedly revise their existing knowledge. Everything gets squeezed down to whether or not questions like that are asked in the examinations, and, if not, they're not interested. One Month in Al Ain UAE

This is me walking in "my own private Oasis."

So its the end of my first month in Al Ain. Its very nice town, with lots of parks and gardens. I am lucky to have a lovely apartment, with 6 bathrooms! Accommodation is cheaper and nicer here in Al Ain. In the larger cities like Abu Dhabi and Dubai, it is more common to live in a high rise apartment. parking is a problem in these places. I should be offended...

Yesterday I confused my husband (also a teacher) and abandoned my laptop on my desk and went about other teacher type business. He couldn't find me and asked my staffroom buddy where she thought I might be - her reply, "Oh dear, she's cut the umbilical cord..."

Using Web Based Technology to Breathe Life into Science Lessons with Visual Arts

I found that most of my students had a difficult time looking at a picture or diagram of a science concept in a textbook and understanding what the image is depicting. This is especially important in science, because many science concepts are learned as cycles or circles.

Pictures in science textbooks do not address multiple learning styles of students; they are designed primarily for visual/spatial learners.
