It has been a gorgeous day in eastern oregon, about 60 with beautiful blue skies and no wind. Probably one of our last for a great while. (too bad I had to spend the day inside) Looking forward to the annual Hermiston- Pendleton Football game on Friday night here in town. Halloween, Play-Offs on the line and the biggest rivialry there is aside from U of O and OSU, it should be a great night. WIth all of that going on you'd think that I didn't have anyting else to do. But I do .... Does anyone…

When the World Wide Web was created in 1989, its main objective was to enable the free exchange of information via interlinked hypertext documents.
After 20 years, we have created firewalls, filters and blocked information flow for various reasons. In our own education systems, students are limited to certain video sharing sites, social communities, and blogs. Many students have more access…

I have a difficult time wrapping my mind around web 2.0. Until recently, I felt comfortable around computers. Put a software program in front of me and I will figure it out, put web 2.0 in front of me and I am lost! I do love the advantages and conveniences 2.0 has to offer, but keeping things straight and remembering passwords is difficult. This is overwhelming. I don't have the time it takes to "play around" much and I think that is what 2.0 requires, just time to fiddle around and learn as…

On a bright, sunny October 28, 2008, temperature in Salem is 48 degrees, looking for a high of 68--just about perfect. Halloween is a few days off, but my Christmas cactus is in full bloom. Fall is stretching into a perfect Indian Summer. Oh, that it could hold on for a few more weeks. But we need rain, and it's not far off, so they say: Friday's the day. Saturday, I will attend a photo class at Oregon Zoo in Portland, shooting those little critters up close. Watch for new postings to appear.

What are people's experience with virtual classrooms ? WiZiQ offers a virtual Classroom that doesn't cost $100,000 for a site license. That's what attracted me to the WiZiQ VC platform.

The other day, my son had done something we didn't approve of and so we took his cell phone away and access to the computer. He loves technology for what it offers, both good and not so good:
YouTube, social networks for kids or not (
myspace) and research for school. Over the course of a summer break, he taught himself how to read music, play the guitar and follow along with these videos to learn certain songs - I must…

I have been taking a course in Web 2.0 and I can barely believe all the new "techno-stuff" that I have been introduced to in the last 5 weeks. As a former computer illiterate, I can now really appreciate the conveniences that are offered for educators on-line. I have set up a RSS reader, which makes life looking for updates on my favorite sites a lot quicker and easier. I have a Twitter account, a blog, a Wikispace and all without failure- it is not as hard as it looks to be computer savvy! I…

As this is my first post, I'll start small. Really small.
As an avowed technophobe, I haven't really messed around too much with the latest, greatest technology. I've always been afraid I'd mess something up and be unable to get back to where I was before.
OK, so I'm trying to overcome that fear, and I'm starting here. A friend forwarded the Microsoft Image Resizer info to me--specifically so I could make better use of the photos taken during my trip to the Midwest this…

Chap 9 is the summary chapter of the book. Of course, it is the call to action piece.
It's main point is to argue that change is hard to do from within. To change from within, a business needs to "separate" -- i.e., create a unit of the corporation whose job it is to innovate and not be bothered by corporate.
C mentions four differnt types of problems and solution "teams" for them: functional, lightweight, heavywegiht, and autonomous business unit. Heavryweight is the…

Ok, I'll admit this up front -- I haven't looked at the actual simulation yet-- something about extra walking on a bum knee that made me pass out and miss lab last Monday-- arrugh.....!
Now to the article: I like the concept of hypermodel-- it sounds like what any educational exercise should be -- interconnected and relatable (to each) other souces of information in a variety of media. A good podcast should be this, as should a webpage, no?
As for the simulation itself,…
