Santa has made this affordable download to offer the Child in all of us a brand new way to enjoy Christmas for 2008.
Santa Clause, also known to many as Father Christmas or sometimes St. Nick (an abbreviated form of his real name Nicolas), is a well-known figure associated with Christmas and loved by many across the world. It was this popularity, especially with children, which prompted him to write a book for the enjoyment of…

As our 'teacher at sea' begins the Vendee Globe, my students are once again preparing to follow his voyage. We followed him in 2001, when he sailed from NY to Melbourne, AU; in 2003 when he sailed from Hong Kong to NY and in 2004 in the Transat 2004 from Plymouth to Boston. Though the students from those years are well into college now, their younger siblings and friends share the same excitement as they did several pre-skype years ago! As…

I dedicated a day recently to stepping back and reflecting on my own Personal learning Network (PLN) that is full of web 2.0 tools.
The result can be seen at

I need to have my head examined. I got so excited over the Web 2.0 tools we discussed in class and the few more that I stumbled on that I volunteered to conduct a one-hour workshop at my school in two weeks. We just had a week-long virtual school after the terrorist attack on Marriott hotel, and the teachers were wondering if there were other ways to make virtual school more interactive and interesting, especially for elementary students.

I've been working to develop a test for my Biology students. We have been studying cells so tonight I developed a summative assessment to give my students. I use individual response devices from TurningTechnologies. The software interfaces between PowerPoint and the receiver. Because of this technology, I was able to develop this test including many color pictures (including some taken through the microscope.) This test also includes video clips (because I had the ability and it fit my…

Last week I attended the Innovative Learning Conference (ILC) in San Jose, California. Despite what seemed like a very light turnout, it turned out to be a great conference experience. The educators attending ILC were engaging and it gave me a chance to meet up with some of my social networking pals in real life. I also had the opportunity to see some really good presentations.
Like most conferences there was an exhibition hall with lots of vendors touting their goods and services as…
