I love Google Pages!
This sample work portfolio needs updating, but check it out:
Sample Work Portfolio
Its
completely, super-duper fast (took me 20
seconds to create a webpage, but I'm somewhat tech-savvy. Best to plan for about 20
minutes) and
easiest (absolutely no programming or tech knowledge required) way for teachers, and even schools or districts, to keep students and parents…

In conversation recently, I heard that US Dept of Commerce research of a few years ago listed EDUCATION as the least technology intensive area of western digital culture. Some web research showed that it’s absolutely true. The conclusion of this research is not old enough to be irrelevant.
Unpacking this statement for teachers and school administrators; our profession, the way we teach and the way we manage our schools has benefited
LEAST from the technical revolution…

There have been so many success stories for my students with blogging but yesterday's example is one never to be forgotten. One of my year 10 boys has a learning disorder - he is a nice student but completes little in traditional subject areas-never a behaviour problem just rarely completes anything. Over the last two years he has been in my information technology classes as multimedia, photography and digital storytelling suit his learning styles. On commencing a blog, he was proud to upload…

According to a news report, a certain private school in Sydney was recently faced with a unique problem.
A number of 12-year-old girls were beginning to use lipstick and would put it on in the bathroom.
After they put on their lipstick they would press their lips to the mirror leaving dozens of little lip prints.
Every night the maintenance man would remove them and the next day the girls would put them back.
Finally the principal decided that…

I am obsessed with using Google Docs for collaboration and my daily work, but the greatest contribution made by Google Docs to K-12 education is the gift to all students of a suite of tools and space to save files. Many of our student don't have a personal home computer, but they do have access to someone else's. It may be at their grandparent's house, at the public library, at the Boys' Club, or at the after hour school computer lab. Students no longer have to carry a flash drive or worry…

Sometimes there are tools that are so useful they make me wish I was back in the classroom just so that I could use them.
LessonWriter is such a tool!
Of course it's been added to the
Teacher Toolbar under Tools.
Check it out and huge kudos to Stephen Churchville for this practical, easy to use teaching and learning resource!

My poor little map, you started to break out in spots
Then I realised they that they were in fact good dots,
Somone was actually visiting me
So I started writing with glee!!
Giving you prime spot I put you right up at the top
But now that you are so red, you are at the bottom
However, even there you are never forgotten.
Once I had learned how to add widgets to my blog, I inserted a clustr map. The sheer delight…

Lately I haven't been able to see YouTube videos or open certain sites when I use Internet Explorer, but if I use Firefox Mozilla I have no problem. Anyone know how I can fix the Explorer problem?

Our student workers got the rest of the tablets imaged yesterday, so at least that is done! One month from today we have the opening faculty in-service. It's going to be a crazy month.
Went to the Laptop Institute in Memphis from Sunday thru Wednesday. It was a fantastic conference. I highly recommend it to anyone if there school is even remotely considering a one-to-one program. My biggest takeaway of the conference is the realization that putting a tablet in the hands of every…

So pay day is here and my b-day is around the corner. I told my family that I would be happy to buy my own present this year (I've been asking for an iPod for two years to no avail). So, I'm finally getting an iPod. And, no, not my daughter's hand-me-down 30G classic that she wants to "sell" to me so she can get herself a new one. LOL!
Here's where the "dilema" comes in. I just can't decide which one to get!!! Honestly, I REALLY want the…
