Quickest tips to clear AIEEE cutoff in AIEEE Question Paper 2010

Cracking the AIEEE 2010 and getting the best of AIEEE results is a task many students try to master every year. Every year a new batch comes in with a fresh set of notions about AIEEE. However, the crux of the AIEEE exams as the AIEEE 2010 is approaching remains the same – get your concepts clear. AIEEE 2010 as can be said from past years’ experience is not a conceptually tough paper but definitely is a bit tricky looking for a little presence…

Five alternatives to take the place of Etherpad

Last week I wrote about how Etherpad was going shut down pads starting on the 14th. Since then I have learned of another new alternative. Actually, this one is Etherpad in a resurrected form. Apparently, in December of 2009, Google bought Etherpad with hopes of integrating it with Wave. However, according to Lifehacker.com, they quickly shut it down. This didn’t make Etherpad users happy, so Google put the collaboration platform back online as an open source app. To make a long story short,…

Educational Technology For Homeschoolers

The Duggar family is a very well known family, largely due to their reality television show on TLC. I personally am a huge fan of their television show and have learned so much from watching them grow and learn, as a family, throughout the years. Their website can be seen by clicking here. The duggars are known for the slightly above average size of their family (Mr. and Mrs. Duggar have 19…

Online Assignments

In today's classroom, it is not uncommon to have assignments online. In Educational Technology, it is natural for most of the course work to be through a computer, as computers are the most prevalent form of technology for Americans, though the cellphone is becoming it's rival.

Online or electronic assignments are great for teachers. They take away many excuses, have a clear submission time and date, and are easily compared with other…

Photobooth

As a people with quick-paced lives, it is hard to remember every moment, so we take pictures. Pictures are our tools of reminiscences and nostalgia. We've gone through a series of different types of cameras, from Polaroids, to snap-shots, to disposables, to digital. All working for the common goal of catching the special moment in one shot. Well another type of camera that has been developed is one on the computer screen, a web-cam.… Continue

Managing Complex Change

If educators plan to transform their schools into institutions that
promote 21st century learning skills, systemic change must occur. This
sort of change will require not only significant resources, but the
type of transformation we are looking for will require highly effective
leadership– leadership that fosters meaningful change. MORE...

hiking

Since the weather has been so nice, I have tried to be outside as much as possible. On Saturday I went hiking with a friend. It is a good hike and quite worth it, but it is very strenuous. It was a Saturday afternoon well spent! I just love hiking; I enjoy the fresh air and experiencing the nature all around me.…

Parting thoughts about Social Media 101

I was introduced to Classroom 2.0 through the professional development course Social Media 101, which has just ended. I have to say this has been one of the most useful professional development courses I've taken for quite some time. I've enjoyed learning about using sites such as this one to connect with other educators who can point me in the right direction if I'm looking for answers, or with whom I can share information that I might have which they might find useful. The format is pretty… Continue

A Classroom's Hierarchy of Needs

A Classroom’s Hierarchy Of Needs

I just got home after a morning of observing two classrooms. One was wonderful, a place that all students would long to be in. One was dreadful, a place that students would only just barely tolerate and where one student actually said, when asked to make a metaphor using the word school, “School is jail”.

What made them different? On the face of it they were both… Continue

Skype Buddies

I'm still trying to explore ways in which web 2.0 tools can be used to mentor students. A new thought would be to have small groups that are assigned to a mentor who monitors the discussion. Norms would be developed within the group as part of a first lesson. Students (and adults) need guidance in using social networking tools so we would begin with a lesson on digital citizenship and discuss things like checking in once a day instead of being "on" constantly. There would also be limits on… Continue

Social Sites

So in looking at this class (and other social media outlefts) available, some of them I think would be hard to use in the classroom.

I think Twitter could be a fun, useful site, at the same time hard to control. Even for this class, I personally found it hard to use Twitter as something other than a social escape. In talking with Paco, we decided it was possible, for example, the way Drew uses Twitter- for talking with people about educational things. But since I started using…

Thoughts on Technology

Drew asked us to write a blog about the book or any other topic...

So here's my thought on some aspects that the book brings up.

Technology.

I guess I am just someone who has grown up with technology. I use it all the time, want the newest gadgets and have no problems picking up something and playing with the numerous small buttons on it. So in reading the first few chapters, it really opened my eyes to how technology has rocked the small things we do.

Looking at… Continue
