1.
Slow down. Take maybe 10% of the time you devote to your own blog, and use it to read a little…

I recently attended the Moodle Moot in New Zealand and an inspiring presentation by Martin Langhoff. Martin is a Moodle guru and works for New Zealand Moodle Partner, Catalyst IT. During his spare time, Martin is involved in the
One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) project. I also had the rare privelege of test-driving an XO-1 prototype.
For those not familiar with the project, the OLPC social welfare organisation developed XO-1, previously known as the…

Compounding this challenge of demand from college-age students is the fact that the world is changing at an ever-faster pace. Few of us today will have a fixed, single career; instead, we are likely to follow a trajectory that encompasses multiple careers. As we…

At the conclusion of our collaborative writing project, the Top Ten Writers have been named to the Hall of Fame, chosen by their peers. 1001 Tales is a multi school project which started last year, created by Clay Burrell, an American literature teacher in Seoul, South Korea. It had a high school group and an elementary group. Clay from Korea, Jeff Dungan of the Dominican Republic, and myself from Hannibal, MO met in Skype and in about 40 minutes had our plan together for how we'd use…

Education systems around the globe need to change to prepare our kids with the right skills they need to survive in this global market. Education 1.0 focused in providing place, staff, books, and it is teacher centric. Education 2.0 focused on computerized and digitized curricula and teacher centric. Education 3.0 is about using technology (collaboration and communication) to enhance students’ outcomes. Students are connected, using web 2.0 tools in their daily activities but they get…

I am participating on a district committee to determine what policies need to be instituted in a new district policy. Our current district policy is "NO PODCASTS" (teacher or student.) Any links or copies of other policies that are more appropriate would be greatly appreciated! We are trying to create a policy that will allow Podcast Publication.

Presented with many examples of how Web 2.0 tools were changing teaching and learning around the globe, we kept hearing how the tools stopped short of widespread adoption. Most of the Web 2.0 tools such as facebook,…
