IIT 2010 result will be declared on 26th May 2010. The timing may coincide with the cbse result 2010 date for class 12th cbse board exam. Many students keep asking me what should be there strategy post iit jee results are declared. The queries are asked by students range from who got good iit rank in iit jee results to those who couldn't make it to IIT.
As many of you know, I develop digital resources for the secondary classroom.
Two years ago we developed a transition to 9 program that we called tt9. The resource was centered around literacy activities (short articles, vocabulary building, blogging and journal writing) with each activity centered around issues that students face as they transition to high school (responsibility, time management, meeting new friends etc.).
With the ipad now on the market we will see some serious competition and innovation for a book reader/computer that will actually be useful to educators and students. The purpose of this post is to simply gather information about eReaders that will work in schools. Since Apple has made billions in the consumer market it is unlikely that we will see a suitable product from them for education. Ideally, what I would like to see is a device that is a book reader for textbooks and any other… Continue

If you are having less than desired success, do not place the blame on the students, or on the times. If you are having less than desired successes “do something different”. What do you do? Here is one suggestion that may give you greater success with this generation of students. A simple suggestion that must be initiated with care is the recommended idea. Ask them (the students) how you can better serve them. Do not use… Continue

Let's get right to it: most designs for classroom technology are based on a 20-year old paradigm of furniture, cables and pipes (and lots of equipment). While continuing to replicate these dinosaurs may serve to ensure job security (for now), this
model requires heavy infrastructure that
adds cost and locks the room into a rigid floorplan that does not support
progressive teaching and learning practice.
I'm flying toward Arizona and the AzTea WoW conference where I'll be
speaking to administrators this evening about school leadership in the
21st century. It sounds generic but I consider this a sacred
opportunity. I know the importance of school leadership and I
understand the power that comes from administrators having a vision for
positive change. I want to seize this and every opportunity like it to
inspire or re-inspire these people to take the helm of their… Continue

The video posted on this page on 21st Century Learning suggests requirements that neither make all schools the same, nor require we drop everything we do. But it does suggest a framework for renewal. We need to:
Use a project/problem based curriculum and experiential learning
Thou Shalt Not Simply Trot Out thy Usual Shtick
Thou Shalt Dream a Great Dream, or Show Forth a Wondrous New Thing, Or Share Something Thou Hast Never Shared Before
Thou Shalt Reveal thy Curiosity and Thy Passion
Thou Shalt Tell a Story
Thou Shalt Freely Comment on the Utterances of Other Speakers for the Skae of Blessed Connection and Exquisite Controversy
Thou Shalt Not Flaunt thine Ego. Be Thou Vulnerable. Speak of thy Failure as well as thy Success.
Thou Shalt… Continue

Today I was accused of being a 'lazy teacher'. Amused, bemused, I asked why. The response, "I walked past your classroom today and your students were just busy talking to one another and you weren't lecturing them. It looked like you were doing nothing." I felt rather thrilled at the characterization.…

Ok, I am officially trying to develop my own PLN. I have gone back and forth for the last year debating whether it was worth it to join twitter and jump with both feet into the whole thing. I know find that it is well worth the time and energy that it takes to get started. The benefit is what counts. I have learned so much from the people that I follow on twitter and the blogs that I follow through my email. I don't have to go to conferences to find information on specific topics like we used… Continue

I really want to begin exploring the possible uses in the classroom for then new ipad. I pitched the idea to a central administration person in my district who has a little money for ideas like this. He countered by saying he needs something a little more concrete, than my original idea of "playing."…
