Well, after a long(ish) pregnancy the OpenLearn Netvibes Universe has finally been born. We’re the first University in Europe to have representation in a Universe (in fact Tom Hadfield’s work on the Harvard Universe is the only other University Universe I’m aware of).
We don’t yet show up in the search so I’m not sure which…

The
conference in Atlanta has been great in that I have had the opprotunity to share thinking with amazing minds. The edubloggers are great and the conversations range into territories that are quite compelling. As I talk to educators, I have had my thoughts stretched, challenged and refined.

Hi,
I'm interested in working with a 2.o application that will allow me to mark historical and geographical sites on a map, that will provide GPS coordinates, and allow some space for text and possibly a picture. I'd like to be able to save maps, put them onto another website or link to them and to paste them into Word so they can be printed. Can anyone steer to a site that will do all of this?
Thanks,
Richard

I barely have time to blog so keeping more than one is not likely going to happen.
Take care,

I'm sitting int he blogger's cafe surrounded by bloggers, some of them famous (the big W.R.) and I'm shy. Now I'm not really a shy person, but I have a hard time breaking in to a group of strangers. And yet many of them are not really strangers to me. And even the famous ones, are just people in real life. We all are right?
There is a kind of intellectual elitism among bloggers - that I perceive and that may or may not actually exist. The kind that I imagine that exists among any…

A visit to the blog of my friend, Sharon Greenberg, took me to a demo clip of a new hot Microsoft technology - Photosynth. The Photosynth preview site tells us:
"The Photosynth Technology Preview is a taste of the newest - and, we hope, most exciting - way to view photos on a computer. Our software takes a large collection of photos of a place or an…

Human relations are so important as an educator. Each day we are required to interact with many different people in a variety of different ways. As an administrator, I've learned that what I say is
not always what the other person hears and, I am responsible for what
it is I have said/written. If I offend someone, I have two choices.
This entry is about this very fact.
This week, while my edublogs account was down, I've been involved in a heated discussion about the…

I am trying to invite other teachers to visit my blog in order to collect some ideas for my summer grant project! I am rehabbing the fiction writing unit in my 3rd grade class, but I also want to share ideas with my colleagues about what others are doing. Please link here to my blog called
Life in Lower School. Stay tuned for a link to my wiki that will contain my notes about the book I am reading on this subject,
Writing the Whole Story by…

I'm excited by the pursuits of summer self development on classroom 2.0. Kelly Christopherson started a wiki called teach 2.0 on pbwiki.com for us to brainstorm and practice using web 2.0 tools for use in our classrooms next school year . We'd like to welcome other classroom 2.0 members, LIKE YOU, to join us. We hope to see you there. :)

I came across these three words, during some some off-road political reading which made me think about organizations and how they're built.
Rethinking. Reframing. Changing.
Re-imagine!
All of us have similiar and yet somewhat different circumstances in our individualized communities. How each one builds where they're at with what they have will determine success.
I believe our district has a lot of success coming up if people will step on-board and get out…

What do I want to learn from this year's ISTE conference?
my "horizons" expanded
my thinking challenged
practical ways of impacting teaching and learning that are new (to me)
renew my spirit
spark an enthusiasm that is contagious
how to take students and teachers into the technologies of Web 2.0
gems that will help with 1 to 1 implementation
how people from all over the world are dealing with barriers that present itself as we infuse…

I've been thinking about
Internet filtering and blocking in schools, trying to puzzle through the shades of gray and understand how current policies in this area can seem like a good idea to anyone.
I understand that filtering is
mandated by law At one extreme, most people can probably agree that blocking access to pornographic…

We are officially winding down the current school year and I am already getting ready for the next. I have some significant changes this next year, I am moving up and moving out - up to grade 8 as a homeroom teacher and out to another classroom. New curriculums, new administration, new programming and staffing as well.
I am really looking forward to teaching my first technology classes and am at a bit of a loss as to which direction I am planning to go. I want to integrate technology…

Ever feel like someone is trying to tell you something? I recently learned about avatars. I don't even know enough about them as virtual personalities to write much of them, but I'm hearing avatar everywhere... even my mother, a retired dental hygeniest brought it up in conversation this week. She actually told me a rather amusing (if scandolous) story about a friend and her avatar. So... I'm thinking, how could I use avatars and Second Life in a high school? Safely and cleanly of…

okay here we go and I do mean we as I hope to speak to teachers everywhere. I am from thepre computer age but I am loving the new technology. It is so much easier than the chisel and a stone tablet. Moses would have loved this---- no need to climb Arat.
If you teach and want to to exchange ideas. contact me. If you just wish to talk about daily life that is okay also.
