In conversation recently, I heard that US Dept of Commerce research of a few years ago listed EDUCATION as the least technology intensive area of western digital culture. Some web research showed that it’s absolutely true. The conclusion of this research is not old enough to be irrelevant.

The power of blogging for students

There have been so many success stories for my students with blogging but yesterday's example is one never to be forgotten. One of my year 10 boys has a learning disorder - he is a nice student but completes little in traditional subject areas-never a behaviour problem just rarely completes anything. Lipstick

According to a news report, a certain private school in Sydney was recently faced with a unique problem.

A number of 12-year-old girls were beginning to use lipstick and would put it on in the bathroom.

After they put on their lipstick they would press their lips to the mirror leaving dozens of little lip prints.

Hooray for Google Docs

I am obsessed with using Google Docs for collaboration and my daily work, but the greatest contribution made by Google Docs to K-12 education is the gift to all students of a suite of tools and space to save files. Many of our student don't have a personal home computer, but they do have access to someone else's. LessonWriter

Sometimes there are tools that are so useful they make me wish I was back in the classroom just so that I could use them. LessonWriter is such a tool!

Of course it's been added to the Teacher Toolbar under Tools.

Check it out and huge kudos to Stephen Churchville for this practical, easy to use teaching and learning resource!

Trouble with Internet Explorer

Lately I haven't been able to see YouTube videos or open certain sites when I use Internet Explorer, but if I use Firefox Mozilla I have no problem. Anyone know how I can fix the Explorer problem?

Laptop Institute, Tablets, and Servers

Our student workers got the rest of the tablets imaged yesterday, so at least that is done! One month from today we have the opening faculty in-service. It's going to be a crazy month.

Went to the Laptop Institute in Memphis from Sunday thru Wednesday. It was a fantastic conference. I highly recommend it to anyone if there school is even remotely considering a one-to-one program. iPod Dilema

So pay day is here and my b-day is around the corner. I told my family that I would be happy to buy my own present this year (I've been asking for an iPod for two years to no avail).
