Validate - it's great!

It is no secret that a great deal is expected of schools. Our curriculum documents overflow with worthy content - and even some content that is perhaps less worthy.  Even if the teaching of academic skills and knowledge were all that was expected of schools the task of the teacher would be daunting. However, all educators know that much more is expected of teachers than “merely” teaching content matter.  Teachers are also required to nurture their students in areas other than the strictly…

Is Zacchaeus in your classroom?

This was originally posted on The Freshman Transition Network.

Ever since I was a young child I have always liked the story of Zacchaeus found in the New Testament in the book of Luke, Chapter 19  I think it was because as a kid I identified with the fact that Zacchaeus was described as a short man.  Recently, though,…

A Conversation With The Future and Microsoft’s Cameron Evans

Insights and observations from the CTO of Microsoft Education in the U.S.

  1. They must enhance student learning
  2. They must increase classroom efficiency
  3. They must be cheap (i.e. under US$1.50 per student)
Plain-Colored Cotton…

"Docking" is "docking"

When I tell people I used to live in Florence as a research scientist, they are generally impressed. I assume that this brings to mind beautiful cityscapes, wonderful food and sitting around in cafes on piazzas watching stylish attractive Italian girls stroll past. Reality, however, was somewhat different, as this video made in 2003 with my Israeli friend illustrates.…

#Edchat, as well as about 50 other educational twitterchats, Digital Personal Learning Networks, Online Discussion Groups, Twitter, LinkedIn and a number of other Web 2.0 social media applications are often attributed by educators for offering professional development, or PD. Social Media is also credited with helping the emergence of Edcamps and Teachmeets, as well as online conferences like #140edu Conference and the Reform Symposium Conference. These are all considered by many to be… Continue
