When I first looked at the subject for this week I have to admit I was a bit unenthusiastic about looking at something like an Acceptable Use Policy. The subject of ‘policy’ can never be a fun thing to read about and often involves confusing jargon and long-winded sentences all saying the same thing. I was surprised to find how interesting these policies can be given our role in creating them and comparing them to the standards set forth by the National Education…

This week we reviewed Acceptable Use Policies (AUP) for technology usage in the classroom. We then went on to create our own AUPs in small groups. Each group’s AUP was tailored to their general area of teaching.
Our first assignment was to create a Wordle based on our school and/or district’s current AUP, as well as any we found useful from…

Activity 3: Discussion - Project - AUP Reflection
This week’s activities were centered on learning about Acceptable User Policies. I thought this was a great topic to dive into since we are all working towards our Instructional Technology degree. We will need to be aware of this topic and utilize it often.
The first thing that really stood out to me was the structure of an AUP it has a structured format. There a six content…

What do these three places have in common? At first glance, almost nothing - situated on three different continents, a small town and two large cities, three languages, two religions (at least)... yet all three schools share our Writers' club, and this week we at Castlemaine North Skyped with Lahore and Guadalajara as a way of introduction.…

Hi,
Here is my comparison blog I put on Classroom2.0 I have included the link. I have attached the AUP I used it is for a school.

The section gives a nice explanation of the schools overall conduct code. It explains that the resources are for education use only.

I am thinking celly could be useful in the school environment. Although students at my school are not currently allowed to use cell phones during school hours, I think the tools available could be utilized outside the classroom. I could use celly to remind students of important assignments or deadlines. I could also pass along calendar changes and/or additional alterations in the syllabus. I also like the polling feature; I could poll the students on anything from whether to have a quiz…

Since I am not working for a district right now, I used the district I am living in – Douglas County Colorado. Their coverage of acceptable use policy for the Internet comes in the publication “2011 Student Rights and Responsibilities.” The preamble says nothing about the development of the document or how it applies to online activity. It does give a list of Board of Education statements and explains how the most successful students have certain behavioral norms. In all, it is…

SF's Acceptable Use Policy and Internet Rules of Use meet a lot of the standards set by the National Education Association, but not all.
The preamble explains why the policy is needed, the goals of the policy, and that employees need to adhere to the general code of conduct of the company. It does not include…

Week 1 Field Experience+
I had some questions regarding the course, and project expectations so I reached out to you. You were kind enough to set up a time to discuss the project. We discussed the project being based on mostly my past experiences as a technology teacher. I am going to utilize my experiences from when I taught at the school listed below.

The first on NEA's 6 key elements is a Preamble. The Preamble should include a section explaining why, its goals, and the process about developing the policy. D11's preamble includes an explanation and a reason why, but it does not say anything about the process of how the agreement was developed.
The next NEA requirement is a definition section. This should include an explanation of key terms and explain the educational purpose. The D11 AUP does not discuss any key…
