Happy Chinese New Year! The Chinese use the lunar calendar in addition to the solar calendar. According to the lunar calendar, the new year this year was on Feb. 3, which is the Year of the Rabbit. The twelve animals in the Chinese zodiac cycle every 12 years. Because every month in the lunar calendar has 30 days, and there are no months with 31 days, every 4 years the lunar calendar is corrected by repeating a month.

I am looking for some advise on how to engage my grade one students in some form of new (non traditional) form of literacy. I am thinking about podcasting and blogging, but I have never tried either before. Any suggestions as to how I can keep it simple for both myself and my 7 year old students?

I just posted something new on my blog about the book, A Whole New Mind: Why Right-Brainers Will Rule the Future.. I know it's been very popular in the education community, and I can see why. We certainly need more creativity and freedom in education.
