Over spring break, I learned how to create a Google website. It was fairly easy. I wanted a place to leave resources for teachers that are learning how to use technology in their classrooms. I will add more resources to this site as I have time. Here is the link: http://sites.google.com/site/uteachwithtechnology/home

Ok. This is might sound lame, and it won’t take you more than two seconds to guess that I am an English teacher. Today, my classes took a day away from the computers to do research. We actually used those bound paper piles in the library known as books. I will admit that, at times through the day, it was painful, mostly because the computers were within ten feet at all times, and the research might have been easier…

Isn't this a face and a cartoon you can trust to represent you in the PK-12 for ISTE Board of Directors?
Voting for the 2010-2011 ISTE Board of Directors will begin March 11 and end April 12, 2010. Hi everyone! Well, I've never run for a position like this before (local sure, but not international!) so I'm not sure this blog is…

I recently posted about a classroom teacher's story about barriers to technology integration in her history class, a "classroom for the future"
http://bit.ly/9HMf9Y From my post, you can link directly to the teacher's M.Ed. thesis, which provides a good first-person insight about the barriers she faced in her attempts to effectively integrate a rich assortment of technology in her classroom.
Here is just one the examples from the…

PBS's Frontline recently aired a program called digital_nation: life on the virtual frontier. The program raises some important issues about the affect of different technologies on the human psyche.
One guest argues that with each leap in communication technology something is lost in the everyday psyche of humans. He cites how Homeric bards could recite thousands of lines of epic poetry. But with the advent of books, humanity lost the ability to memorize large amounts information.…

In July of 2009, I launched The One Comment A Day Project. My mission was to promote new bloggers and bring comments to existing blogs. Initially, The One Comment A Day Project burst on to the scene with the celerity of a gazelle, however, it soon became another faded project. The members of the ning remained, however, the collaborative dialogue that…

Hey, all,
I had the opportunity to view the pre-broadcast version of the fantastic years-in-the-making PBS "Digital Nation" program yesterday and I'm doing all I can to get folks to view and to contribute to what will undoubtedly be a rousing discussion of its implications for those of us who have "drunk the koolaid" as innovators and advocates in the field of educational technology.
Carry on discussion here or visit…

Found my way to a talk at the
Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard on Monday by Jeremy Bailenson. Bailenson runs the
Virtual Human Interaction Lab at Stanford and they explore the implications of human interactions through avatars, among other things.
Bailenson was talking about avatars, a hot topic right now, for sure. His basic point was that avatar…

This post is a commentary on the future of Computer Labs as well as a "cry" for your input on what you believe a 21st Century C-Lab should look like. This will also become the first in a series of posts regarding a major transformation both physically and philosophically within our school. We are remodeling our school. I am going to re-purpose and re-structure our lab. I am not 100% confident that I am going in the right direction...this is a bit of a risk. You're input here would be of great…

Yesterday we held our first class in the new semester for the CPED 2023 (Introduction to Educational Technology) course. As much as I thought I had most of my thoughts together prior to starting the course there were so many more things I felt I left out.
I would have liked to have painted a broader and yet more detailed…

Part1 of A Review of Technology and Education
This article is part I of my multi-part investigation into the extent that technology is becoming a part of the educational process. As I am building a
website which is designed for students to collaborate and manage their group projects online, I thought it important to investigate the extent that people are turning to the web for learning.
I’ve never taken an…
