Firm Sues Forum To Silence Critics - What does this mean to you???

Firm Sues Forum To Silence Critics

I am in shock over this article. The mere fact it can get to court is enough to send me spinning. Not sure how we can alter what is happening in Oz but we need to work out something and quick.

If this goes through and a precedent is set, best I look for a cave to live in as I am sure someone will hunt me down and I do not think…

'Concert for Max' - Benefit for Max Merritt - 21 October 2007 - Palais Theatre Melbourne!

2007 - you just never know what will happen.

For those that read my blog, connect with me on myspace, facebook, Ning, Xanga and Twitter, you will I am sure have noticed, a number of mentions of the benefit concert for Max and the banner, with his pic, that takes you to the myspace I and my son Zane created and manage on behalf of those organising the concert. Our contribution to a man we admire and care about deeply.

It is one of those times, when friends and those who care…

Australia blows 84 million on a filter! Sad but True!

Update - Australia, the blocking of snt for learners and kids at home (the porn filter) and the interesting USE of snt by those in politics - Mr Howard, Mr Rudd.

I had a chuckle when I realised that the government had put out a youtube to promote joining the defence forces during the gap year and at the same time, they were busy behind the scenes blocking the very people that, one would have thought was a key market.

You maybe interested in this update. It appears that the incredible… Continue

My son Zane begins his homeschooling journey using social networking tools and technologies

A brief update on my son's progress, this week - the week he has begun his learning journey at home.

Zane has created a blog amongst other things, just in a few days this week. It was all new to him, although he did say, that creating his blog was similar to setting up his myspace, which he did ages ago on his own.

You will find updates on his blog as he goes along.

Homeschooling using Social Networking Tools and Technologies - The Journey Begins!

As I have advised I have just decided to homeschool my 16 year old son, after difficulities at the school, mainly around the fact that they refuse, to acknowledge that his chronic fatigue is impacting on his studies - not sure how many medical documents I have given them and they still just call him lazy.

With his self esteem an all time low - I am taking the risk of a life time. Funny I think I am a pretty neat educator/facilitatior - whatever it…

Clear the chalk dust - learn afresh

Could there possibly be a push finally for the 'rights' and 'needs' of LEARNERS now and in the future?
I am running with this as a positive and hope to see and hear more in Australia, that helps all citizens not just those within education, understand not only that times have changed (which can give you a sore head) but in what ways, how and the consequences of not embracing the gifts provided on the www within a learning context - well maybe that should be a societal…

A Decision - Extreme - Terrifying - Solution

As a result of difficulties my eldest( a chronic fatigue sufferer), has been having at school and no apparent, easy or speedy resolution or assistance, in sight at the school's end, I have made a decision, placing faith in myself that I have the ability to homeschool my child.

Please note that he is in year 10 in Australia - as I am not sure of the exact equivalents globally.

I have found the past day to be most interesting upon reflection. Why - well let me…

Top 100 Tools for Learning!

Hi to all in classroom 2.0. I stumbled over a site that provides a section, listing the current Top 100 Tools for Learning.

I have not delved deep within the entire site, however I did feel that this page would be useful for all as I have certainly gained an insight into other worlds and tools unknown to me before. The layout provides easy reading and the links to each tool, allow you to learn more about what each one does, is used for or in some cases takes you to the development…

Ning! MySpace is dead. Long live social networking.

Ning! Myspace is dead.! Long Live Social Networking.

A great article and one that in the most part I have to agree with. I am finding Ning to be my tool of choice when it comes to professional networking and would use it with my learners happily.

Myspace still has it's place however within the arts and business in particular now. If you are teaching anything that has a business aspect, then I feel it is important to at least…

Embrace Digital Age - Newspapers told!

http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,22203572-5012062,00.html

The article is another reflecting the impact, the net and in particular social networking tools are having on business practices globally.

Another reason maybe to ensure on campus access to the tools, environments and experiences, that I believe must integrated into formal learning at all levels globally.

Cyberspace Stole Cathy's Identity

This article has just been posted and I found it most interesting. Whilst I do not wish to make light of cyberbullying (a victim myself within a professional online network) or the concept of identity theft, but I am going to ask maybe a contaversial question - 'Can your identity be stolen?'.

I look forward to your insights.…

Myspace, Spam, Safe Practice, Business and Children Making Me Think To The Future!

From my experience, I get more spam through my work and personal emails, despite all the firewalls, especially at work.

I am finding that those who email through my 'myspace' are those who really wish to be involved in the charity, want more information, wish to join, wish to donate, or are just willing to help spread the word. After 4 weeks not one email that was not of interest - no spam.

Sometimes you do find the…

The Power of Myspace - A Personal Journey - The Beginning.

Myspace

How did I get involved?

Living with my teenage sons and 18 year old god daughter, I thought I should check out what they were talking about. It was all yet an other language to learn, if I was to communicate with them.

Why did I set up a myspace?

I am on the committee of the only charity in this country…

Good for our politicians in Australia but banned from educational institutions and stakeholders - Interesting

MP's flock to myspace

http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,22062159-11869,00.html

Interesting. How can it be that myspace is seen as an important feature of current political campaigns in Australia, yet the same politicians endorse the banning or blocking of access to such tools/sites in educational institutions nationwide?

I am most confused:)
