Hi Beth. I did a search for "Lessons on Japan" under www.webcrawler.com and I found two good sites. The first one has lessons on making a volcano, creating a Japanese restaurant where the students eat with chopsticks and sit on pillows, make a map of Japan, origami projects, Haiku poetry. The references are listed. There is also a video that is listed. The website is long:

On my classroom 2.0 page I have found 2 videos on Japan. One is about the Tea Ceremony and the other one is about Sumo Wrestling. I think both of these videos will be benificial for our students!

Craft idea for students to make to display for our Japan table:
Cherry blossom pictures. For cherry blossom pictures simply place a drop of ink or runny black tempera on a sheet of paper. Have students blow gently through half a straw in one direction to form the tree. After it dries, use bits of pastel tissue paper for the blossoms. :o)
