FreeRice.com: An Educational Game that's Philanthropic as Well!

One of my colleagues told me about FreeRice.com, a game that helps players to build vocabulary and donate rice to the UN at the same time.

Now I'm sure many are asking "How does it work?" It's actually very simple. Every vocabulary question that comes up has an accompanying ad below. Each time an ad is loaded, money is generated that is donated to providing rice to hungry people. I thought this was an ingenious idea and decided to add the site to a list of links to educational games that my kids can play when they finish a project or assignment early. Now they can improve their writing scores and be philanthropists at the same time!
