Parenting workshop, feb 3rd, 2008
This workshop organized by “ Sekolah Islam terpadu comitee, Aliya, Bogor “.
The workshop was hold on feb 3rd, 2008 at Auditorium Thoyyib, Fakultas Pertanian, IPB darmaga, Bogor.
Educate the children with love ( speech by Iis Istiqamah )
There are a few things that make children depressed :
Negative images from tv, magazines, news,
Drugs
Working mothers
Low quality in baby sitting
Pornography
Abused
Violance
That’s why so many children decided to take a suicide and being so rude
And dangerous, nowdays. So many children followed tv, advertisement’s words, and action.
The changes in children development, are :
0-1 years Trust Vs Untrust
1 – 3 years Control Vs Shy & Selfdoubt
3 – 8 years Confidence Vs Feeling guilty
8 years up Productive Vs Low quality
Children always change, not with the same character.
There are few mistakes that parents make :
Not enough care for children
Not enough time for children
Abused the children
Say rude words
Always push the children to do parent’s will
Not responsive
Aggressive
Lack self in confidence
Mistrust the parents
Unbalance emotions
A few things to improve the younger generation :
Community involved in kids education, to help build a better new generation.
Support children so that they can be a confident
Be tolerant so that they can learn to control themselves
Community accepted, the children will learn to be independent to take care of others.
My Comments
Love is important to educate children. But I think ig we only give them love without discipline, then they become spoiled.
I think, reward and punishment, are good to make children strong and tough to face the community.
- give them reward when they do good things which makes them confident and like themselves. Reward are important !
- Give them punishment ( grounded ) when they have made a mistake, would make them more disciplined, and be responsible for what they have done. Punishment is needed !
- Make them understand and respect each other, share with each other, care for each other and make them feel safe.
