So pay day is here and my b-day is around the corner. I told my family that I would be happy to buy my own present this year (I've been asking for an iPod for two years to no avail). So, I'm finally getting an iPod. And, no, not my daughter's hand-me-down 30G classic that she wants to "sell" to me so she can get herself a new one. LOL!

Here's where the "dilema" comes in. I just can't decide which one to get!!! Honestly, I REALLY want the 32G iPod Touch, but can't justify nearly $500 for it. So, then I'm down to these models that I'm looking at:

1. iPod Touch 8G for about $250--No way around it--these touch models are COOL!
2. iPod Classic 80G for about $250--Not as cool, but tons more memory for the $$!
3. iPod Nano 4G for about $150--Small, cute, and cheap.

Suggestions???

My recommendation is a refurbished 8G iPod Touch from Apple for $199. With other iPods the entertainment comes from you either buying movies and music and loading it up (which is costly) or ripping CDs of music into iTunes. In the end it is only a media device. If that's what you are wanting to use it for that's all well and fine, but they're still not cheap.

At $199 you're getting a steal at just $50 more than the Nano with twice the space. But the real value comes in the App Store and the built-in applications (Email, Browser, etc). The iTouch becomes more than just a device that entertains you with the media you load on it, it becomes your third arm as you gain access to websites, e-mail, and a ton of applications to utilize the device all without costing you a dime (There are many free applications but there are a number of applications that cost $ as well).

And don't be afraid of the "refurbished" denotation. Apple certifies these devices free of defect and warranties them for an entire year, just like the new ones.

Thanks for the recommendation, Tim! Unfortunately, although I am only an hour's drive either way from two larger cities, neither has an Apple Store. The closest Apple store is a four hour drive. Unless you can get a refurbished model from the online apple store?

Thanks,
Michelle

I'm sorry I didn't clarify, the link in my post goes to the online Apple store, you can purchase the refurbished ipod there (with free shipping!). You can also view other refurbished ipods at this link if you are considering wanting an iPod with more space, it would still be discounted and include the warranty.
