Today I decided to ask my Grade 4 students what they wanted to learn about in IT and about computers. I thought I would start small in an area I am working on myself and see what they wanted rather than doing what I think they want or should know.

I got the idea from a small homework assignment I gave them this week about our class website. Bookmarking was something I asked them to do with our site and most of them indicated they didn't know how to do that but wanted to learn to do so. On Tuesday, I took about 10 minutes and showed them what bookmarking was all about and now they are sending me emails with all the links they are bookmarking.

Anyway, back to the question of the day with my kids. Just now I checked my school email and 15 of my 19 kids had sent me emails with their requests. They were so much fun to read. By far the most asked for information was how to create their own personal website. So my question is - are there any sites out there that they can use to do this, sites that are child friendly.

I am aware of all of the ramifications but I want to find out what is available before I respond to them and give the children and their parents guidance on how to do it.

Thanks

Heather
