This is me walking in "my own private Oasis."
So its the end of my first month in Al Ain. Its very nice town, with lots of parks and gardens. I am lucky to have a lovely apartment, with 6 bathrooms! Accommodation is cheaper and nicer here in Al Ain. In the larger cities like Abu Dhabi and Dubai, it is more common to live in a high rise apartment. parking is a problem in these places. In Abu Dhabi we saw people just parking in the middle of the street.

Our apartment is brand new, in a block of four. It backs on to Al Mutaredh Oasis, which is a plantaion of date palms - very nice for evening walks. There are lots of shops nearby ranging from my little laundry where I can get my shirts washed and pressed for me for 3 dirham each $1.20 NZ. I had a great haircut from the little hairdresser next door for 10 dirham NZ $4. There are also supermarkets and shops including Choithrams about 5 minutes away which has just about anything you could ever want. Ther are clothes shops, "Home r Us" and even Pizza Hutt and Kentucky Fried (if you are into that kind of thing). Al Jimi Mall is only 5 minutes drive away.
Here is our House:

Yes they have McDonalds at Al Jimi Mall....

Anyway, I'll try and post regularly, although we are still waiting for our internet to be connected at the apratment.

Hello,
I just came upon your site, and was wondering if you could please assist me in contacting my friends who live in Alain, UAE. The whole family attended PSU here in Portland, Oregon, and I love them as much as family. $ keeps me from visiting the UAE, and I have lost their email address, as they have mine. Because I live just on SS, I cannot afford to call the Emirates. I have their home telephone number and cell nbr. He also works at the Al Ain International Airport for the Dept. of Civil Aviation. CAN YOU HELP ME PLEASE?
