This is me walking in "my own private Oasis."
So its the end of my first month in Al Ain. Its very nice town, with lots of parks and gardens. I am lucky to have a lovely apartment, with 6 bathrooms! Accommodation is cheaper and nicer here in Al Ain. In the larger cities like Abu Dhabi and Dubai, it is more common to live in a high rise apartment. parking is a problem in these places. In Abu Dhabi we saw people just parking in the middle of the street.
Our apartment is brand new, in a block of four. It backs on to Al Mutaredh Oasis, which is a plantaion of date palms - very nice for evening walks. There are lots of shops nearby ranging from my little laundry where I can get my shirts washed and pressed for me for 3 dirham each $1.20 NZ. I had a great haircut from the little hairdresser next door for 10 dirham NZ $4. There are also supermarkets and shops including Choithrams about 5 minutes away which has just about anything you could ever want. Ther are clothes shops, "Home r Us" and even Pizza Hutt and Kentucky Fried (if you are into that kind of thing). Al Jimi Mall is only 5 minutes drive away.
Here is our House:

Yes they have McDonalds at Al Jimi Mall....

Anyway, I'll try and post regularly, although we are still waiting for our internet to be connected at the apratment.
