The software is not that hard to use (especially ning - soo easy) so I thought it would not be too much work to put up one of my own. Turns out that getting that critical mass of users to keep the site going is a lot of work. We have had two false starts and finally our algebra teacher site looks like it is building some momentum. Who knew it would be this hard?

I can see where it would be difficult to keep users. I never knew anything like this existed until I had to do it for a class.

I am a college student in the middle of nebraska and we are learning how to this exact thing. It is difficult.

I agree i am building a site for Australian teachers www.uskoob.com and getting that critical mass takes time and patience. I think that providing resources that people want has been helped but we are always looking to encourage teachers who have experiences to share
