Quite a few members of classroom 20 are wondering about the possible use of ning in the classroom.
Questions that arise are mostly connected to security and privacy.
There is a social network for school children, their parents and teachers, http://www.imbee.com
The blurb from the site claims this:
imbee is designed to provide parents with visibility of their child's activities on imbee. You have easy to use tools to guide your child's on-line experience.
Imbee's new Teacher Feature enables teachers to extend their classroom onto the Internet and establish class blogs and online interaction. Teacher Feature enables teachers and parents to work together closely to guide children's foray into social networking while bolstering classroom learning.
I have registered but unfortunately am having trouble authorizing the registration (israel isn't one of the countries included on the registration form) However even without authorization, I can set up a profile page and keep a personal blog, the social part of the site is not available.
If I do manage to get authorised I will keep you informed - or maybe someone else has experience of imbee that they can share?
If you are representing a commercial entity, please see the specific guidelines on your participation.
