I am looking for some killer projects using technology that will allow students to go deep into one subject and kill several state standards with one stone, so to speak. I had lots of luck with a dual credit English composition course through the University of Missouri /Kansas City the last couple of years, but I wish I had given them more to work with. Basically, we were studying the 60's student protest era, and their assignment was to become experts on one event--Kent State Massacre, Mai Lai Massacre, Birmingham Church bombing, Chicago Seven, etc.--and make their classmates experts through multimedia presentations.
I can see how to enhance their options by suggesting Google SketchUp I learned about at the MACE Conference. (Thanks, Kevin!). I wonder if anyone else has had some projects that were particularly effective for English classes. I am primarily an English teacher but also fill the role of Technology Lead Teacher in my school and district.
