I don’t know about you guys, but the new iLife and iWork suite of
programs from Apple look like winners. This site has been created from day one using iWeb, and although it is not as “web 2.0” as many of my fellow bloggers would like it to be, I like it and it looks pretty cool.
So when I heard that iWork and iLife were being updated, I got pretty excited.
But I also am a self-proclaimed cheap SOB, so, aside form doing something
illegal, how could I get my hands on a new copy of iLife and iWork?
Simple: Apple sells copies of both of these suites for about half the retail cost, if it is bought for school use.
iLife and iWork for $39.00 each for school use. So you can pretty much get
both programs for use at your school for the price of one of the programs.
(If you want to buy yourself a personal copy, it will cost you $71.00 as an educator.)
Simply go to www.apple.com/education and get a proposal.
Now, how about getting these programs even cheaper than that?
How about a 500 seat site license for only $249.00? That’s right , apple
is selling a 500 seat site license for either one of these for $249.00. That is about fifty cents a seat! Did you get that? FIFTY CENTS A SEAT!!!

Why iLife and iWork Are Essential for Education
iLife and iWork are powerful tools that engage students and inspire
creativity and individual expression—all while making learning more relevant. Whether students are making visual records of science experiments, producing and presenting historical documentaries, or recording foreign language podcasts, with iLife and iWork every subject comes to life.
All iLife and iWork applications use the same interfaces and tools,
providing a familiar feel, minimizing learning time, and making it easy to share media between applications.
Designed to work seamlessly with the Mac, iLife and iWork give students and
teachers the freedom to get straight to learning and creating, rather than spending countless hours just learning how to use the software.
