Well I got the Puppy Linux working on my old Aptiva AMD 2 machine. It works great. I was really impressed how fast it works. I need to take it home over the weekend and try it on the internet (don't have network access at school for personal machines). Moodle seems to be doing well. A few teachers are digging in but not as eagerly as I'd like. One of the instructional coaches is doing great at loading her site with all kinds of links to state standards stuff. I hoped she would.

Oh horray! A Moodle-ite!

I love Moodle. I have and am in the process of developing several Moodle courses at http://www.virtualhomeschoolgroup.com/

I would love it if you dropped in and gave me feedback on what you think of the courses so far. The design is such that the courses can easily be used by several teachers at one time where they share in the resources section but have their own homeroom block that they use for their own class-specific resources and activities. It is my way of trying to make it easier for our instructors to step into their classes.

My son 19 year old son adores Linux and has made converts of my husband and 13 year old son. He has set his, theirs, and my 6 year old's system up to dual boot. They can chose Windows or Linux.

He has spent many a year researching everything he can about computers. He has built nearly every one of our eight systems. Yes, you read that right, eight. We are a family of six, but one system is kept fairly cutting edge as far as graphics card goes - it is called the family gaming machine. One is used for the family server. And he has a laptop for college.

His latest project was to set our family server up with a RAID array. That one had him puzzling for a while when he couldn't figure out what was giving him problems for weeks on end. He assumed initially it was software related because he was so new to working with this version of Linux (I think it was a variation of Linus). In the end it was a combination of a 99 cent cable and two brand new hard drives that didn't work. They laugh now about how many times they bragged on how quite the drives ran. LOL.
