Today was a lot of fun. In the BIology classes, students took a quiz on the parts of cells and how they function. The quiz was conducted using individual response devices. (I use a set from TurningPoint http://www.turningtechnologies.com and am very pleased with them.) It was great to see how many students really comprehended the material. They enjoyed taking the quiz and asked when they could take the next quiz "Using clickers again!"

My 7th grade students also used the TurningPoint clickers in a unique way. The lesson allowed them to "guess" an answer - after everyone had made their best guess, I then provided direct instruction and we continued with a related part of the lesson. By the end, over 80% of the students were demonstrating mastery at 95% or higher. They were all excited and expressed disappointment that we were "done for the day." It is a fun day when students don't want to stop learning.
