A new trimester begins tomorrow and I've been cleaning up my Level 1 French class wiki to make it more utilitarian for a new trimester's homework grid. What's a homework grid, you ask? Well, it's a collection of assignment choices grouped into different category-types (vocabulary, reading-writing, speaking-listening, technology, and culture). Students select a different assignment each week to prepare and turn in on Friday. I try to provide students with a variety of options that appeal to different learning styles. It's something I picked up this past summer at a presentation by
Deborah Blaz, author of
Differentiated Instruction: A guide for foreign language teachers. Last trimester the homework grid assignments and the wikie were a huge hit. My goal is to utilize more internet resources in my food unit and as students acquire more reading and writing skills.
. . .
I would love to get some feedback on the organization and content of the
wiki if you have the time.
