A letter is sent to parents with the AUP explaining two very important points:

  1.  Each students in your care must have your explicit permission to use computers and the Internet for their studies.  You and your student must agree to and sign the attached District’s Acceptable Use Agreement.
  2. To prepare students for future success, Pueblo City Schools will be providing them with additional technologies” a set of secure, web-based applications called Google Apps for Education.

Due to New leadership at Pueblo City Schools there was no clear explanation for how the policy was developed.  The department who is responsible for the development is Information Technology through partnership of Assistant Superintendent for Learning Services. The policy was approved by the Board of education and developed May 1997, Recoded Dec. 1999, Revised June 2012 and June 2013.

Google Sites (middle and high school students) Students can create web pages to share related information.

Security and Safety of the Students I believe is the most important part of the AUP.  As stated in Pueblo City Schools Procedures “In the interest of student safety, the district shall educate students about appropriate online behavior, including cyber bullying awareness and response, and interacting on social networking sites, chat rooms, and other forms of direct electronic communications.”
