Blog Entry 6
To facilitate the research and design of your web 2.0 class web site, please interview your colleagues, students, their parents and, if possible, your principal about what to include in a course web site. If your school or district has a technology integration specialist, arrange to interview him or her.

Your summaries and discussions of these interviews are to inform the discussion topic of a next blog entry.

Parents
Parents want access as to what is going on at the school. One of the things that they stated in the interview, was to learn more about technology in regards to how it’s being used at the school. Parents want to know about drop boxes for student homework. Parents also want to know about wiki pages and how teachers are using them. Parents also indicated that they want to know how they can help their child with their laptops. Parents want to know about the kinds of things their children are doing on the MAC;s. Parents also want training on the Mac’s and their features.

Teachers
Teachers have a expressed a need for continued Professional development in regards to best practice techniques with technology. One of the things I have thought about was having a technology symposium on best practice techniques so that teachers can share with each other all of the wonderful things they are doing with technology. It is essential to staff that ongoing PD is provided in regards to technology.

Students
Students stated that they want to interact with me and learn more about their laptops. As mentioned in the literature, students use technology as a form of literacy. Having prizes and rewards for students to get on my page would increase access to my site.

Technology specialist
The data liaison suggested that I maintain a calendar of events. She also suggested that somehow I be able to have my site serve as a link with all the teachers of my school. She also suggested that I have the following posted on my site:

Our school mission Statement,
One to one laptop initiatives,
District calendar
Programs for our males such as mighty males,
Youth of promise.
Other leadership programs such as our leading ladies,
Student council.
KMO,
Power of the pen
Organized sports
