For this week's assignment in Educational Technology, I had to make a character posters using Microsoft Office's Excel program. My character poster included a picture of me as the background and a word that describes me along with its definition - both displayed somewhere on the poster.
To make the poster on Excel, I zoomed out to view the page at 25%, so that I was able to see the page lines (the poster needed to be four pages all together). I inserted my picture and stretched it to make it fit right in the four pages. After the picture was within the correct margins, I added text to squares I inserted from the Autoshape option (for this I had to edit the box by making them have no line or fill colors). Lastly, I changed the font type, color and size to my liking, and the poster was ready to print!
Character posters would be a great way to get to know my future students. When I become a teacher, I could have each child in my class create a poster of themself, and we could display the posters in the class room on a wall or large bulletin board.
