CLASSROOM2.0 Workshop - November 7, 2008

DigitalVaults is a site suggested by Lucy Gray, who organized this conference.

The guest speaker was Steve Hargadon, who created Classroom2.0 for educators to use as a social and collaborative network. The theme of this conference is using Web2.0 to enhance our teaching and engage our students.

Numerous Web2.0 sites were demonstrated, including VoiceThread, which I have subscribed to as an educator.

Louis Loeffler demonstrated and used CoverItLive by way of his Tech-Lou-ology blog site, where he has Saturday's workshop recorded, which I unfortunately was unable to attend.

Another very interesting site -- Edmodo, a microblogging and classroom management site has great potential.

Some of these technologies, more specifically the social networks such as Tagged, My Space, Facebook, and YouTube, are already being used by our students outside the classroom to connect with their peers all over the world. The interesting thing is that many of our students not only go to these sites to observe and absorb information, but they also produce their own content for others. Enterprising educators understand that these and other Web2.0 sites are fertile places to structure content learning opportunities.
