After reading Five Minds for the Future, I feel like most people have a combination of at least two of the "minds." I feel like most professionals work hard towards being proficient in their area of discipline, whether it is being a carpenter, educator, or politician. Whatever passion drives a person, they strive to be the very best in the profession. As a teacher of high school students, I believe it is extremely important to be prepared and self-disciplined as well as knowledgeable. I, by far, have much more to learn in my area of discipline, but through self-study, professional development, and my co-workers' support, I have the tools I need to succeed. Can anyone really know enough about his or her chosen discipline? I think the answer lies within each person according to that person's drive to succeed and passion for the discipline chosen. As a teacher, I feel like I am a combination of the disciplined mind and the respectful mind. As a teacher, I face multiple differences in my students, and must teach them everyday as if they were my own children.
