It seems that at least for my group of sixth graders, it certainly is. Several are very avid Youtube users and even those students not direclty uploading to Youtube certainly show a keen interest in what the others are doing. Recently, a student (one of the avid Youtubers) suggested that we watch a fun science clip by Charlie McDonnel on Youtube. We did, and the students as well as I thoroughly enjoyed it. Without the video, the same fun science clip would not have been as effective. Does this equate to podcasting being dead? I am not sure, but I do know that none of the grade 6 students are frequent podcasters.
