Piloting a vocabulary website for the district.  It is called Membean.com.  The creators of the site have used research-based strategies to  help students learn words.  When a student is given a new word, the word is given in context - before the definition.  The context clues that are given make it very easy to understand the meaning of the word.  The next section is a memory hook..corny ways to remember the word.  The students then get to see the word used in real life, followed by the word broken down into word parts.  There is a video to allow the students see the word used in things they love.  Finally, synonyms and antonyms are given.  Once a student spends about 5 minutes on this page, questions will be asked.   The questions reinforce words learned previously.  It is a great site.   I encourage everyone to check it out!
