I just attended the Oregon Geographic Alliance annual conference this weekend. They do such great things. It's an organization of all of the geography teachers in the state and members have opportunities to attend a Summer Institute -- at no charge. And each year they take a group of teachers to some place in the world to explore geography concepts (again--it's free for the teachers). Last summer they went to Turkey. Next summer they are taking the Orient Express across China and Mongolia. And they've been to Bangladesh, Kenya, Wales . . .
There were several sessions about technology. In one session we connected to a teacher in Gaza and talked about the stereotypes we have about one another. Very insightful.
