This week we looked at web 2.0 technologies. We were able to look at specific ones and figure out how they would be useful in the classroom. My group specifically looked at Active Allowance. This website is a great way to teach children how to budget their money and really learn the value of a dollar. It also allows the children to see progress charts of how they are doing and really make it easy to see why they earn or do not earn money. This could easily be used to distribute and earn classroom money that could be redeemed for a number of different things such as prizes, extra computer time, or even something like a day at the teacher's desk. As long as you put a little thought into it, it could be very helpful. There were also many other web 2.0 technologies that could easily be tied into a lesson and really help to extend the learning in the classroom. With an open mind most things can help extend the learning.
