Politics: The Quest for Good Governance

Politics is a science which is concerned with proper administation of government. It is rooted from the word "polis" or city but it has some relationship with the word "polite" in my own interpretation. Therefore, politics could only be good if applied politely. Plato wrote a book entitled "The Republic" which is his ideal outlook of a government. It was so common a thought to commoners what an ideal society would be.

In my country, the basic foci of governance are: Education, Health and Infrastructure and I had read in history that there were developments introduced by the Spaniards, British, Japanese and Americans in the Philippines. During the Marcos administration, the San Juanico bridge was a big project and during the Aquino administration, clock changed to give way to awaken early in the morning. I had also heard that "For the nation to progress, discipline is needed" and also "People first before delayed services." These ideologies were not similar to the Garcia ideal which were "Buy things Philippines" and "Austerity." I won't give my comment to the Ramos and Estrada administration but I guess the GMA administration was quite not successful with the Medium-Term Philippine Development Plan, though the plan was very ambitious. Now, the Aquino administration is fighting for the expulsion of corrupt officials. And I see that his foremost concern is 4Ps o Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (Sustainable Filipino Family Program) where I heard some bad feedbacks of those who misuse the funds intentionally. Others are not benefitted.

Well, as long as the form of government is still in the thoughts and minds of few elites, the society will still continue to seek for an ideal governance. The best governance in my inclination is the Biblical Theocracy where the Monarch is the Operator of the Universe, none other than the Polite Creator.
